Salt, Angelina Jolie’s recent spy movie, left me thinking that it is basically a re-working of the Bourne series (starring Matt Damon) but with a female lead. The chases through the city, the flashbacks, almost everything was very Bourne. But despite this, it still came out well and easily stands on its own as a good movie. I read on the Wikipedia page that Tom Cruise was the first choice for the lead role, and thank god they didn’t go down that route. Jolie does a brilliant job as the American/Russian/American spy Evelyn Salt. Oh, it looks like there will be a sequel too. xD
Watched Knight and Day last night. I quite liked it, even thought I can’t stand Tom Cruise. Cameron Diaz was kind of… replaceable. But the story was good and the style.. I don’t know if it was on purpose, but sometimes the special effects looked straight outta the 80s or something. 3/5
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World really follows the books quite faithfully. Wasn’t sure about Michael Cera playing Scott Pilgrim because I think Scott would be more.. skater than nerd.. but it worked out well. 5/5
If you’ve never seen WebCanvas before, I highly suggest you check it out. Billing itself as the “world’s largest collaborative painting”, basically it’s a web-based art canvas that anyone can draw on. You could spend hours exploring it and seeing what people have created and even contribute yourself. It’s sometimes funny, sometimes offensive and everything in between, but that’s what you get with something so open to everybody.
The Last Airbender was alright. The story was good but the acting was horrible. 3/5
